Himalayan Salt Room Therapy

Salt is nature’s anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antiviral, so it’s no wonder that salt rooms provide so many benefits to every client.

Salt rooms or ‘caves’ have really grown in popularity over the last decade, however, the benefits of salt therapy date back more than 170 years!

Quick History of Salt Therapy

The benefits of salt therapy were originally discovered in Poland in 1843 by a Polish physician who recognised that salt mine workers experienced fewer respiratory problems than others.

The concept for modern-day salt rooms, such as Cryospa’s salt room, were developed in the 1950’s when Eastern European physicians discovered a way to replicate the microclimate of the salt caves and ultimately, found a way to deliver the same salt therapy benefits first discovered in Poland.

What is Salt Room Therapy?

Salt therapy involves relaxing in a room mimics the natural environment of a real Himalayan salt cave.

Cryospa’s salt room is a great place to calm and soothe your mind while enjoying some health benefits. Our salt room involves a wet salt treatment, with a saline solution that is nebulised by an ultrasound nebuliser to create very fine salt mists.

These fine particles travel into the respiratory tract and are absorbed in the skin to benefit the whole body.

The Benefits of Salt Therapy

You may be familiar with using saline solution to clean wounds, clear your sinuses or even treat dehydration. So just imagine the list of benefits associated with a salt room!

Improve Respiratory Issues

Studies show that inhaled salt helps to thin mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up phlegm. It is also said to reduce inflammation in the lungs and kill microbes, thereby reducing signs of infection.

Inhaling particles reduces inflammation, relieving symptoms of asthma, allergies, bronchitis and sinus congestion.

Scientific studies have even shown that people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) breathe easier after exposure in a salt room.

Decrease Stress & Improve Health

During salt therapy, negatively charged ions in the salt room help to improve both your mental and physical health, helping to reduce stress, increase energy and improve sleep quality.

Salt rooms can also offer a healthy boost to your immune system, which everyone can benefit from.

Improve Skin Conditions

Regular salt therapy sessions may help to improve a number of skin conditions through inducing a regenerative and reparative process within the skin.

Some of the skin conditions that may see improvements include eczema, psoriasis, acne, dermatitis and rosacea.

Supplement Minerals

Regular 45-minute sessions at Crypospa’s salt room may also help to deliver valuable minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper and bromine to your body, helping you to heal and supplement your mineral deficient body for a powerful health boost.

“Spa experts note that the concentration of particles in halotherapy is about 10 to 15 times the concentration found by the sea. A 45-minute session is equal to three days by the sea. Kinetically activated dry salt particles are like an army of janitors helping to detox the respiratory system,”

Please be courteous and advise if you are running late, as we may be able to rearrange your appointment to avoid inconveniencing other clients who are ahead and/or on time.
